Meet Phillip
Phillip Post serves as the Bee Ambassador at Historic Congressional Cemetery, where he helps oversee the cemetery’s thriving apiary and roughly one million resident bees, depending on the season. Acting as both a liaison and ambassador for the DC Beekeeper Alliance , Phillip also works closely with fellow beekeepers and the DC Beekeepers Association, an organization he enthusiastically encourages others to explore if they are interested in learning more about bees, supporting community-driven beekeeping, or becoming beekeepers themselves.
Phillip has become a familiar a presence throughout the cemetery community. Whether attending movie nights, karaoke, Soul Strolls, Tombs & Tomes book club, Death Café, the Cherry Blossom 5K, or simply stopping to pet the many dogs who visit the grounds, Phillip embraces the cemetery’s mission of creating a vibrant “third place” for the community. Much of his time, however, is spent atop the cemetery’s beautiful historic crypts, home to the apiary “The Catacombs.”
