Are you a teacher or do you know a teacher? Are your kids going to school this fall, or do you know kids who like history?
We are announcing, for the first time in our institution’s history, that we are proud to offer formal educational programs designed to meet the needs of students here in the nation’s capital and surrounding area, including our special K-12 field trip experience, a History Hunt Program!
This engaging, fun, and FREE program will task students with exploring and discovering history! Students will work together, and problem solve to find answers to questions through observation and listening comprehension, but our educators will also ask questions to connect the past with the present, asking students to think about their identity, engage with DC history, and learn about a variety of lived experiences.
After completing the hunt and thinking introspectively, students will win a prize marking them as a HCC History hunter!
Not interested in a history hunt?
Would you prefer a guided tour, perhaps catered to a specific topic like Black history or the founding of DC? Or maybe a stop by our apiary to visit our cemetery bees? Or maybe something else entirely?
If you have an idea, please fill out the form and we would be happy to do our utmost to meet your needs.
The History Hunt will cover several DC, Virginia, and Maryland Standards of Learning. If interested, please reference the linked flyer, or email us for a comprehensive list. Upon request, we can gear our History Hunt program toward a certain SOL or unit as well, so please reach out! In addition, we are happy to assist with the cost of buses for school group field trips if needed.
