Meet Mark

Born and raised in Kansas, Mark Hudson feels blessed to indulge his lifelong interest in American history through a career in public history that has spanned over three decades. After undergraduate work in American history and communication studies at the University of Kansas, he completed a Master of Historical Administration & Museum Studies degree at Kansas and a Master of Arts degree in Library Science at the University of Missouri. Following graduation from Mizzou, he served as Curator at the Boone County Historical Society in Columbia, Missouri then went on to the Historical Society of Frederick County, Maryland where he successfully guided the organization through the American Alliance of Museum’s accreditation program.

More than a decade later, Hudson accepted the position of Executive Director at the Vermont Historical Society where he served for nearly seven years before returning to the DMV to lead Tudor Place Historic House & Garden in Georgetown. Here he raised funds and managed capital projects in support of the organization’s Master Preservation Plan while also guiding a reimagination of the site’s interpretation, culminating in the award-winning historic house tour, Ancestral Spaces.

When he is not engaged in activities at the cemetery, he will be found reading presidential biographies, cheering for the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs or playing disc golf. Mark and his wife Julie share their home in Arlington with a spirited Jack Russell terrier named Flynn.
