Gardening for the dead (special guest Leigh Pickering)
This Saturday’s topic is: Planting for the Dead (special guest Leigh Pickering the new Horticulture and Grounds Manager at Congressional Cemetery)
Our special drop in guest will be Leigh Pickering, who is responsible for the living parts of our favorite cemetery grounds: the gardens, the grass, the trees, and of course the bugs and bioorganisms that populate and pollinate the grounds and beyond. As always when we have a special guest for Q&A this is from 10:30am to 11:30am. You are welcome, of course, to arrive or leave any time during Death Doula Day office hours 10am until noon.
This week we get the opportunity to talk about how cemeteries intersect with the people buried and memorialized in a cemetery. Leigh has expertise in both native plants and in use of botanicals. She has a special interest in uses of plants, as well. So come on down, get your cup of tea and a pastry, and let’s learn from Leigh about this special space and the unique considerations of working around the dead while keeping their memories… fresh!
All are welcome. In fact, bring a family member or friend! Do rsvp by clicking HERE so we can have enough chairs and snacks prepared.
