SUMMARY:Soul Strolls: Grave Robbing and Resurrection
DESCRIPTION:  \nSECOND WAVE TICKETS AVAILABLE OCTOBER 10th at 5:00 PM\nWashington\, D.C. is a city of light and shadow. Beneath the shining edifices of marble that dot the landscape lies the story of dark deeds from decades past. Grave robbing\, body snatching\, and resurrection plagued the nation’s capital over a hundred years ago. The dead were not safe—and the living were complicit. \nThis macabre drama played out in the burial grounds of America: an unsettling collision of scientific inquiry\, unsuspecting victims\, and blasphemous desecration. \nThis fall\, we invite you to experience another dark chapter of our common history—a chilling glimpse into D.C.’s past. Discover the stories of our interred residents\, victims and perpetrators alike\, brought to life by our talented actors. Encounter them and uncover their long-buried secrets. Join us for Soul Strolls 2025: Grave Robbing and Resurrection. \nOur annual twilight tours explore the stories of individuals buried here through a guided lantern lit tour of the grounds with costumed interpreters. Experience the history of this hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness\, immersed in vignettes of the lives of our interred residents. \nDetails: \nSoul Strolls take place over 6 nights\, October 17-18\, October 24-25\, and October 31-November 1. SUMMARY:Pride LGBTQ+ Tour
DESCRIPTION:Purchase tickets here!\n\n\nHistoric Congressional Cemetery is one of the only known cemeteries in the world with a dedicated LGBTQ+ section. To explore LGBTQ+ history and gay legacy in the nation’s capital\, we hope that you will join us for this LGBTQ History Month edition of our LGBTQ+ tour. Find out who is buried here\, including many LGBTQ+ activists\, and learn about DC’s role in shaping the contours of the gay rights movement.\n\nFrom the GLAAD website: “Founded in 1994 by Rodney Wilson\, a gay history teacher from rural Missouri\, LGBTQ History Month was declared a national history month by President Barack Obama in 2009. This celebration coincides with National Coming Out Day (October 11) and commemorates the first and second marches on Washington for LGBTQ rights in 1979 and 1987.”\n\nTickets are only $10 and all proceeds go to benefitting our non-profit mission of historical preservation and education. Please come prepared with comfortable clothing and shoes\, as the tours often stray from the main paths. Meet by the gatehouse at the cemetery entrance at 1801 E Street SE.\n\nThe event is rain or shine.\n\n\nPurchase tickets here!

Reckon with their legacies and learn about the American past.
