SUMMARY:Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nAt Congressional\, we remember our veterans. Over 1700 veterans from almost every major American armed conflict are interred in the historic grounds of Congressional Cemetery. And while they are no longer here\, their memories live on. To help honor and remember\, we invite you to join Congressional Cemetery and our community partners for the annual Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying Ceremony and event. \nThe ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM at Congressional Cemetery. Upon arrival\, attendees are directed to the ceremony area. At the conclusion of the ceremony (around 11:30 AM)\, attendees and volunteers will assist with the placing of wreaths at veteran graves. Attending the ceremony is free but we ask that you please RSVP using the link below. In addition\, chairs are provided for the ceremony and are available on a first come\, first served basis. \nPlease note that this an outdoor event with no rain date. We advise dressing for the elements. We also recommend wearing appropriate footwear\, as the ground is uneven across the cemetery. Due to our status as a National Historic Landmark\, we are unable to be ADA compliant. \nWreaths Across America is a US-based Non-Profit Organization started in 2007 by Wreath Producer Morrill Worcester. Every year\, in partnership with shipping companies\, truckers\, living veterans\, cemetery staff\, and all number of volunteers\, Wreaths Across America place wreaths on the graves of veterans who have passed to “Remember\, Honor\, and Teach” about the memory of their lives and service. \nIf you are interested in attending the ceremony and potentially placing a wreath\, please RSVP here.\nIf you are interested in donating a wreath for the ceremony\, please see our page HERE.\nLearn more about Wreaths Across America at their website.\nWe greatly appreciate the supporting of the following organizations to help make this event possible:\nThe District of Columbia National Guard\nGuerrilla Gardeners of Washington DC\nNational Defense Post 46- The American Legion\nJudge Lynn Chapter- Daughters of the American Revolution \nEastern Market Main Street\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Purchase tickets here!\n\n\nHistoric Congressional Cemetery is one of the only known cemeteries in the world with a dedicated LGBTQ+ section. To explore LGBTQ+ history and gay legacy in the nation’s capital\, we hope that you will join us for this LGBTQ History Month edition of our LGBTQ+ tour. This celebration coincides with National Coming Out Day (October 11) and commemorates the first and second marches on Washington for LGBTQ rights in 1979 and 1987.”\n\nTickets are only $10 and all proceeds go to benefitting our non-profit mission of historical preservation and education. Please come prepared with comfortable clothing and shoes\, as the tours often stray from the main paths. SUMMARY:Soul Strolls: Grave Robbing and Resurrection
DESCRIPTION:  \nSECOND WAVE TICKETS AVAILABLE OCTOBER 10th at 5:00 PM\nWashington\, D.C. is a city of light and shadow. Beneath the shining edifices of marble that dot the landscape lies the story of dark deeds from decades past. Grave robbing\, body snatching\, and resurrection plagued the nation’s capital over a hundred years ago. The dead were not safe—and the living were complicit. \nThis macabre drama played out in the burial grounds of America: an unsettling collision of scientific inquiry\, unsuspecting victims\, and blasphemous desecration. \nThis fall\, we invite you to experience another dark chapter of our common history—a chilling glimpse into D.C.’s past. Discover the stories of our interred residents\, victims and perpetrators alike\, brought to life by our talented actors. Encounter them and uncover their long-buried secrets. Reckon with their legacies and learn about the American past. Join us for Soul Strolls 2025: Grave Robbing and Resurrection. \nOur annual twilight tours explore the stories of individuals buried here through a guided lantern lit tour of the grounds with costumed interpreters. Experience the history of this hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness\, immersed in vignettes of the lives of our interred residents. \nDetails: \nSoul Strolls take place over 6 nights\, October 17-18\, October 24-25\, and October 31-November 1. Gates open a half hour prior to the first tour start time. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes prior to your tour start time.
