These mostly white\, male narratives obscure how real social change occurs for most people in society. Yet including these overlooked narratives makes the process of writing history far more challenging. In our first program of the Tombs and Tomes book festival\, Congressional Cemetery is proud to host award winning author Rebecca Boggs Roberts to contribute her perspective and insight on addressing these challenges. \nRebecca Roberts – About our Speaker:\nRebecca Boggs Roberts is an award-winning writer and educator. Previous jobs include journalist\, tour guide\, forensic anthropologist\, political consultant\, jazz singer\, & radio talk show host. How do you write about a cemetery? Who do you write about? What images do you include? Are there any unique challenges? Is it irreverent? DESCRIPTION:It’s back! In partnership with Just Walk\, join us for a Halloween pet portrait in your pup’s favorite place! Options for portraits include either dog or family style. Plan to dress up in your favorite costume!  We will have some costume options available for your pet as well as seasonally spooky backgrounds and decorations. \nPortraits will take place between the Chapel and the Sousa family plot. The cemetery will remain open to the public and dog walkers. \nRegister for tickets here! \nJust Walk is a worker-owned business providing dog walking services in Washington D.C.
