SUMMARY:Death Doula Days
DESCRIPTION:This Saturday’s topic is: Dying Kindness (special guest Cianna Stewart) \nOur special drop in guest will be Cianna Stewart\, the host of the Dying Kindness podcast. As always when we have a special guest for Q&A this is from 10:30am to 11:30am. You are welcome\, of course\, to arrive or leave any time during Death Doula Day office hours 10am until noon. \nOkay\, so this week is special. Your death doula in residence is an ardent fan of the Dying Kindness podcast\, and having Cianna visit our amazing cemetery and meeting our Death Doula Day community is a dream come true. \nWe strongly suggest that you take a bit of time to read the list of topics for Dying Kindness and listen to some episodes. Cianna is on a mission to help us be kind to those we leave behind. She knows from experience why this is so important. Let’s not leave angry mourners: it’s a bad look. \nYou can leave money and jewelry and heirlooms\, but it is probably most important to leave as little chaos and confusion as you exit the world. That’s the kindness. That’s a profound kindness. \nShe’s kind\, Cianna. Kind enough to come visit us in person and share her journey. Come ask questions and learn from this wise\, kind person. \nAll are welcome. In fact\, bring a family member or friend! Do rsvp so we can have enough chairs and snacks prepared. \nThe conference room is\, cosy\, so please do rsvp by clicking HERE. \nWHAT ARE DEATH DOULA DAYS? \nDeath Doula Days on Saturdays 10am-noon at Congressional Cemetery. Free event\, no experience necessary\, donations to support Congressional Cemetery’s work warmly welcome. \nStay up to date on the project and get notice of upcoming topics by joining our Death Doula Day mailing list HERE.

SUMMARY:Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:As an active burial ground\, Historic Congressional Cemetery is well acquainted with death. But just what is a Death Cafe? \nDeath Cafe is a global movement facilitating thoughts and discussion about the often taboo subject of death\, It’s a intimate informal gathering to discuss death while eating cake and drinking tea. There is no agenda other than providing a safe space to have an open ended conversation. \nPlease join us for Historic Congressional Cemetery Death Cafes on October 10 from 6:00 PM- 7:30 PM in our historic chapel. Tickets are free and are available for reservation approximately one month prior to the event date on September 12. \nWe will have a rotating slate of individuals from the local death positive community to moderate the event. Complimentary refreshments will be served but we ask that you consider bringing a food or beverage item to share with the group. A $5 donation\, to help cover event costs\, is also welcome but not required. In addition\, you do not have to use your real name to register\, just a name you will recognize so we can check you in at the door. Should your plans change\, let us know so we can allow others to participate. \nReserve a seat HERE (available September 12)\n  \n
