SUMMARY:Halloween Pet Portraits
DESCRIPTION:It’s back! In partnership with Just Walk\, join us for a Halloween pet portrait in your pup’s favorite place! Options for portraits include either dog or family style. Plan to dress up in your favorite costume! We will have some costume options available for your pet as well as seasonally spooky backgrounds and decorations. \nPortraits will take place between the Chapel and the Sousa family plot. The cemetery will remain open to the public and dog walkers. \nJust Walk is a worker-owned business providing dog walking services in Washington D.C. We have been photographing our pet pals since 2011. You can check out our daily pictures on Instagram @justwalkdilps. \n————————————————– \nThe K9 Corps at Historic Congressional Cemetery is private dog-walking program\, bringing life\, community\, and volunteerism to this extraordinary burial ground. A portion of the sitting fee will benefit Historic Congressional Cemetery. \n————————————————– \nQ&A \nWhen will the event take place?\nThe pop up pet portrait will take place Sunday\, October 13\, 2024 starting at 11am. Tickets are sold in timed slots. Please arrive on time! \nDo I have to be a member to go?\nNo\, this event is open to the public and their well socialized dogs. \nHow will this work?\nSign up for an available time slot. The pop up studio will be outdoors. Photos will posted to the Just Walk Photos website 48 hours after the event. From there\, participants wilm be able to view and download their pictures. A printout with this information will also be handed out at the event. \nWhat kind of camera will be used?\nA Canon 2000D Rebel T7. \nWhere can we see examples of their work?\nThey have a website here and an instagram @justwalkdilps.

SUMMARY:Founding the Federal City: Capital Connections Tour
DESCRIPTION:Established in 1800\, Washington DC was the fledgling capital of a fledgling nation. Built to house the seats of federal government\, the nation’s capital soon became a city in its own right\, a place where people lived\, worked\, and\, of course\, died. A mix of congressmen\, merchants\, military officers\, diplomats\, architects\, and enslaved individuals comprised the fabric of the new capital\, an experimental mix of people in an experimental new nation. \nWe invite you to experience the lives of the people in the early days of the Federal City in a new special tour of the cemetery grounds. \nPlease come prepared with comfortable and weather appropriate clothing and shoes\, as the tours often stray from the main paths. \nThe Cemetery is open to dogs on Sundays. Please be aware of that off-leash dogs will be on the grounds at the time of the tour. \nReservations are required and a tour reservation is a $5 donation. \nSaturday tours begin at 11:00 AM\, rain or shine. Visitors may meet docents at the front gate of the cemetery located at the corner of E St. and Potomac Ave. \nYou May Purchase Tickets Below!
