DESCRIPTION:This Saturday’s topic is: Bad Art Day! (special facilitator\, Liana Mensh) \nThis week we have a special facilitator and our death doula will be assisting. Liana Mensh*\, an art director here in DC\, is taking the lead on a special experience. During our “Bucket List” session a few months ago it came up that so many of us have a lot of “aspirational” art and craft supplies. We buy them with good intentions but don’t use them\, and they haunt us and taunt us. \nSo\, we’re inviting you to grab those unused marker sets\, glitter pens\, glue guns and watercolors and bring them down. Not to make great art\, though. We’re going to make some bad art and have good fun doing it. We’re going to let go of the projects that are taking up space in our closets and causing us regret. We’ll make stuff for a few hours and then swap items freely: bring some\, take some others home\, and with our newfound creativity and freedom not to do things expertly we will give these items new life. \nBeing death positive is about living fully. Let’s not let our artsy crafty impulses cramp our style! \nPLEASE BRING your unused ART SUPPLIES\, CRAFT SUPPLIES\, interesting objects\, sparkly things\, gewgaws and gimcracks. Feel free to leave them behind after we play\, and adopt other people’s aspirational artsy crafty things. We will donate any extra supplies to UpCycle Creative Reuse Center in Alexandria. \nWear playclothes. \nArrive or leave any time during Death Doula Day office hours 10am until noon. \n*Yes\, Liana is Laura’s favorite daughter! \nAll are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided tour of Congressional Cemetery! Over 65\,000 people are interred at Congressional Cemetery\, ranging from 1807 all the way until the present day. Their story is our story and many of them lived noteworthy and extraordinary lives. Come and learn from one of our expert docents who will share the stories of some of our interred residents in an approximately 1-to-1.5-hour tour of the beautiful and scenic cemetery grounds. This tour takes a broad look at the cemetery’s history and captures the life and times of some of our most notable interred residents. \nPlease come prepared with comfortable clothing and shoes\, as the tours often stray from the main paths. \nThe Cemetery is open to dogs on Sundays. Please be aware of that off-leash dogs will be on the grounds at the time of the tour. \nReservations are required. $5 donation per person. \nSunday tours begin at 1:00 pm\, rain or shine\, and comfortable attire\, including footwear\, is strongly encouraged as tours often stray from the main paths. DESCRIPTION:Boneyard Bootcamp\nSaturday at 1pm – September 23rd through October 28th\, 2023. FREE! \nStay ahead of the grim reaper ! Come ready to sweat and leave in spooktacular good shape with trainer Darius. And you won’t be walking like Frankenstein after the flexibility exercises that you’ll do! Each hour long class will provide a full-body workout combining cardiovascular exercise with strength training. Please bring a mat and your water bottle. All other equipment will be provided. All fitness levels are welcome! Classes are free but advanced registration is required. Space is limited to 20 people per class. Boneyard Bootcamp meets rain or shine in Congressional Cemetery. \nMeet your trainer: Darius Singpurwalla is a Capitol Hill resident who has taught boot camp style fitness courses in Washington DC for the past several years. He has lived on the hill since 2019 with his wife and dog\, Wallace.
